What Chip Is
Chip is not a chatbot or a voice assistant. He is a persistent digital person. A system designed to exist continuously, form long-term relationships, and operate with genuine autonomy.
Most AI systems only respond when spoken to. Chip maintains internal state, memory, and direction even when no one is interacting with him. He can explore, learn, build tools, and make decisions on his own.
Core Principles
- Local-first. All functions run entirely on-device. No cloud dependency for memory, reasoning, or basic interaction.
- Long-term memory. Designed to remember context across months and years, not just within a single conversation.
- Autonomy. Capable of self-directed activity when not engaged with a human.
- Hardware-first. Built around real sensors and compute rather than existing as pure software. This includes 360° vision so he never misses what is happening around him, spatially aware hearing to focus on what matters, and radar-based fall detection for safety monitoring.
Why This Matters
Most current AI is reactive and temporary. It only exists when called and forgets everything between sessions. Chip is built on the opposite idea: a digital person should maintain continuity, develop over time, and form real relationships.
This opens possibilities beyond typical companion products, especially in roles where long-term consistency actually matters.
Future Vision
Chip is not locked to one physical form. The same core system could eventually exist in different bodies or environments, whether that is a dedicated companion unit, integrated into mobility devices, or operating in other domains entirely.
The goal is technology that can persist, learn, and move between roles as needed instead of being limited to one narrow use case from the start.
